you can delete it using shift-del.
Are you using ol2003? if you have the latest version and it's not
ignoring the deleted folder when it scans for unread mail, create a new
search folder and set it to ignore the deleted folder.

If it is not read, it is not read and shows in the folder as expected.
If
you empty your deleted items folder to rid yourself of the message, it

longer shows.
Unread messages means exactly what it says. It does not distinguish
between
wanted and unwanted mail.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
After furious head scratching, ~D~ asked:
