go to windows update and download hotfix (KB941090) then move all your
"deleted" items back into you in box. Then delete them one by one. Then go
into your deleted items folder and select empty deleted items folder and they
should go "POOOF"...hopefully this will work!

Try this Microsoft fix:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090
"Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a
computer that is running Windows Vista"

That page offers two download options. Unless you know for sure
you have 64-bit Vista, use the 32-bit option.

Although only 'Outbox' is mentioned, it will enable removal of stuck
emails from any folder.

I had downloaded the fix but it did not work until I moved everything back to
the inbox, redeleted stuff and then it worked.

You are aces man!!

I tried this hotfix out, it still doesn't work. I have email in my inbox AND
in my deleted folders. I stopped my email scanning, etc. What now???

What antivirus programs do you have? Some of them need to be
uninstalled to stop them from causing problems, not just have a part
disabled.

Did you try both the 32-bit version and the 64-bit version of the hotfix?
Only one will do anything, but which one depends on whether you have
a 32-bit or a 64-bit version of Vista. It may not delete the stuck mail,
just make it so you can.

I am using Shield Deluxe. I have not only disabled mail scanning there but
also disabled Windows Firewall for Mail. I have 32 bit Vista and I will look
to see which version I downloaded. Other than that, I don't know. Tis
driving me crazy to not be able to delete these messages. Should I uninstall
Shield Deluxe and then reinstall? I had to download from internet so hate to
do that if I can get out of it.

Help is greatly appreciated!

I haven't heard of problems from that program. I'd recommend leaving
email scanning disabled, though.
