deleting history

With Internet Explorer....When I delete the history of
websites visited they disappear in the browser window I
have open. But when I shut that window and open a new one,
they come back again! Is there a way to delete history of
sites visited so they stay deleted??
If I set the number of days to keep History at zero, the
sites will disappear next day. But I cannot get rid of
them on the current day.

Close IE and use the Internet Options applet in Control Panel to clear
history.
