Deleting History

I have tried to use every steps that are possible to delete the history of pages that were viewed or connected automatically when searched some specific site. Majority of the history is deleted, but cannot delete the rest. I went through the control panel and clicked on the Internet Explorer and tried to erase it from there, but it did not work. Also, I open up my Internet Explorer and went under tools and internet options, and tried to clear it from there. This does not work. Can anyone tell me how I can remove all the history out of my computer. When I type a 'letter' in the address field of the IE, some site comes up that I have never visted. Please help. I run an XP Operating System. Please email me as soon as possible. Thanks for your help.
