Deleting Headers

This morning when I start Outlook 2003 in my catch all account, Outlook was
trying to download over 2000 messages. Most of it was repeated spam. I didn’t
want to have all that spam downloaded into my PST file so I stop the
download. Someone told me to download just the headers and them I would be
able to delete most of the spam without loosing any email that may be
important.

I download about 500 headers and tried to test what this person was telling
me. When I went to delete the header, Outlook just put a line through the
name date and time of all the headers. I couldn’t delete any headers; outlook
kept telling me I would have to download the message first before I could
delete the headers. I call my ISP and ask them to remove all of the email in
my catch all account which they did, but now I have 500 headers in my inbox
and I can’t delete or remove them.

I hope someone can help me with this problem.

Thanks for any help.

See if this works - Try going to Tools - send and receive - process all
marked headers - that should work

Hi Karen,

I tried that and it didn't work. I think it didn't work because all of the
messages up on my ISP server has been removed. I need to just remove the
header in my outlook that has a line running through the Name, Date and time.

Any other ideas?

Thanks for your help!

I finally was able to remove all of the headers. Here are the steps I took to
remove the headers.

1) Mark all headers for deletion.

2) Mark all headers as read.

3) Process all mark headers.

This will remove all the headers.

Thanks for your help!
