I have run into a problem I can't sem to solve, I have an AVI video
file that I want to delete and it won't let me delete it.... I have
cleared all the attributes, Went down to the bare minimum programs I
have running, started XP in safe mode, and have even tried a few
older dos based file manager programs to try and delete this file but
everything I've tried doesn't work.... everytime I get the error
message " File is in use by another program, please close the other
program".. and I know for a fact that this file not being used
nowhere.. it just won't let me delete this file..... anybody else
had this problem before and know a fix... Thanks in advance

restart your system in safe mode, get a text-based file manager (like far -
get at www.rarlab.com) and try deleting from it
before that run chkdisk on your hard disk drives

Courtesy of Kelly:-
"Go to Start/Run/CMD and type in: regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll
To re-enable it: regsvr32 shmedia.dll
And/or run this edit, then try to delete it.

Hi,

Open the Media Player, remove that file from the playlist. Close the media
player and retry deleting the file.

Tried all that, and it still didn't work......any other ideas

Will it let you rename it? Sometimes it will and then when you restart it
should let you delete the renamed file.
