Deleting / Disabling the Links

Hello,

I have got 2 queries.
First one:
I have got a workbook which has so many links that points
to various unknown files.

I have deleted some of the links by manually scanning the
various sheets. but still i am left with some links which
i could not find manually..

I have even cleared all the names in the workbook. Still
no use.

I looked into Edit->Links, i can see one link, but
unfortunately there is no delete button with which i can
remove the link.

Can anybody help me how to remove the unknown link in the
book? Thanks.

Second one:

Continuing from my prev question, whenever i open the
books which contains some links, excel asks for links
updation.

There is one option i saw in Tools->options -> Update
remote references...that doesn't work..excel updates
automatically without even asking.

Is there any way to control the automatic updation by
choosing manual instead of automatic.

It's generally better to put only one question in a post.

Question 1:
There's a very good utility called Findlink that you can download free from
here:
http://www.bmsltd.co.uk/MVP/Default.htm

Alternatively, in Edit > Links, you can change the source to point to the
workbook itself (i.e. the one with the link in it that you're working on).
This will eliminate any reference to the other workbook, but somewhere there
will still be one (or more) formula (or whatever) that now contains an
ordinary 'internal' reference (or #REF!) rather than a link.

Question 2:
Under
Tools > Options > Calculation tab
there is a setting "update remote references". Is this what you are looking
for?
