Deleting an address that is not in address book

Old contacts that I have deleted still pop up when I type
a name the same as theirs - so although they are no
longer in my address book somehow Outlook 2002 has kept
their details somewhere - is there anyway to get rid of
these "shadow adresses"? I keep sending mail to old
contacts because I have new contacts with the same first
name! Please advise. Thanks.

Remove individual addresses from the autocompletion cache by highlighting
the entry when presented in the suggested names list (use your arrow key to
migrate to the entry) and then hitting your Delete key before you tab out of
the field. To clear the entire cache, follow the instructions here:
