DELeting a File from System32 Folder

I need to replace a driver file with an updated file (of the same name). I
cannot remove the old file--delete, cut, rename, move, etc. The old file
simply re-inserts itself. I was advised I temporarily can disable this
feature in the Registry? [A "simple" 1/0 setting.]
Q1: Where/How in the Registry?
Q2: Is this an XP Pro feature, or an SP2 feature?
Assistance appreciated.

Hi,

See is it exists in this folder:

C:\Windows\system32\dllcache

If so, it's a protected file and you will need to remove it from the cache
first.

Or put the new version in both "system32" and "system32/dllcache" - that way
windows thinks it is the correct file, as they both will be the same.

Small Note: If you want to learn how to fix/do something, I'll point you to
it, but if you want me to do your work for you, it will cost you $50 USD per
hour - your choice.

Hi,

If you don't delete the one from the dllcache first, then anything else you
do will be moot.

Nutcase & SpongeBob...
I cannot DELete from the WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\dllcache. The file simply
reappears there as it does in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Drivers folder.

More help, please!

Hi,

Click start/run, type "sfc /purgecache" and click ok. This will clear the
dllcache.
