Deleteing invalid records

"I have a continuous form
I have some validity checks in "before update" event
if I put invalid data ina field and then hit record delete key
it perfoms "before update" event before "delete event "and thereore performs
validity checks
is there any way in "before update" event I can know I have hit the delete
key and therefore not perform the validity checks - or does it insert a new
record before you can delete it
hope this makes sense to someone

No.

Press the Esc key (or choose Undo on the toolbar, or from the edit menu) to
undo the changes, and therefore avert the event.
