Here's the story: On Sunday my computer got a virus, but my virus scanner
quickly detected it and got it out. Then I decided to delete some programs
that I didn't recognize. And I deleted files too. Apparently I deleted
something I needed. A file called "wininet.dll" located in the windows folder.
I think it's an Application Extension (that's what the comp I am on says
about it). First the my internet browsers wouldn't work, so I restarted the
computer. I got to the startup page and entered my passowrd and it said
Explorer unable to open because of missing component (wininet.dll). It says I
can reinstall the application but I don't know how. So it takes me to the
startup page and I can't get anywhere else, there are no toolbars or anything
its just nothing. Is there a way I can get this file back on my computer? I
tried putting the file from this computer onto a floppy disk and take it to
my computer but I can't access the floppy disk folder. Same with a CD, I
can't access the CD. So there is no way I can download anything. I just
wanted to know if anybody knew what I could do, or if there is another
website or forum you can direct me to where I can get help.
Also, I have a lot of files on this computer and I cna't access them. Is
there anyway that I can get these files off of that computer so I can put it
on a new computer if I wish to?

Please Help! Thank you

Execute; sfc /scannow

To fix your issue download my fix tool called wininetfix, you can get it
here http://www.pcbutts1.com/downloads/wininetfix.exe You will need 1 blank
formatted floppy, run the file and it will unzip to your floppy, reboot your
system with the floppy inserted (your system must be set to boot fro your
floppy drive) follow the prompts, when you get to the A: prompt then type
"wnfix" without the quotes and press enter. The program will then try
several locations to replace your dll file and if successful it will tell
you. Good luck and post back the results. This program is new I have tested
it successfully.
