Hi,
Does anyone know how to get the 'accessories' part of windows XP pro? My
Sony laptop didn't come with a CD, just system recovery CD's. I accidentally
deleted some minor programs whilst cleaning up (doh!) such as volume
control, games etc. Can i download from microsoft or do i have to buy XP
again??
Many thanks for any help received!

Peter

Some of the programs can be reinstalled by using Add and Remove Programs /
Add and Remove Windows Components. Jym

When i use Add/Remove programs it asks me for the xp cd, which i don't
have!!

Cheers

Have you tried to use the System Recovery cd when prompted for the XP cd ?
This also contains a copy of XP and all the files that you need. Jym

Yup - tried that too - only has the sony programs! It seems the discs
supplied are only for reinstalling after serious failures (total system
reinstall) it must have xp on it but you cant access any of it apart from
the sony programs?? fun eh!!

p.s many thanks for your help Jym!

Hi JR

i may go back to! Can i not redownload from microsoft? Has anyone else
bought a new laptop which ddint come with an xp backup cd??

Thanks

On my Sony there is a copy to the Windows XP installation files in the
folder C:\Windows\I386. Check your Sony for a I386 folder. When asked for
a Windows XP CD, point to that folder.

many thanks again!!

Best Regards

Peter
