Mike

Hello,

I am praying that you can help me b/c I cannot stress how
critical these files are. The program that I am running
is Switched on Schoolhouse. It has almost a years worth
of my daughters home school tests on it. It is run
through sql server in a Win2000 environment.

Basically the program was uninstalled to attempt to
correct an error message with the language arts section.

When reinstalled, it had removed everything.

I am not the person that did this...and I am a computer
tech., but not entirely familiar with sql...but I do know
I have a big problem.

My question is: Is there absolutely ANY way, and I mean
any way to get these tests back. The techs for SOS have
told me that the tests are stored on MDF & LDF extension
and they have sent me a utility to put them back into the
proper folder, provided I am able to find them. I have
tried several ntfs data recovery programs, and not one of
them have detected the proper mdf files. It shows me some
mdf and ldf files that were deleted or modified in the sql
folder, but not the specified name that I am looking for,
which is in the data folder of SOS, which is where they
are located. PLEASE give me any availabe options...I am
DESPERATE. Thank you.

Your best option is do turn off your machine and not to
restart it. You should then take it to a data recovery bureau.
They can work miracles - at a price. Note that any activity
on your hard disk diminishes your chances of recovering
the files.

After recovering from this disaster, reconsider your backup
strategy. Storing an important file in just one single place
is a recipe for a disaster waiting to happen.
