Deleted items vanish

I have outlook 2k3 and when I delete an item, it doesn't put it in the
deleted items folder, they vanish. Any suggestions?

You want to think yourself lucky. Outlook 2003 has suddenly started losing
ALL my messages even before I've seen them. I mark messages to either delete
or download as required, process the marked headers, and the whole lot
simply vanish - even the ones I wanted to download! I've started using an
alternative mail reader, and all is well with that. I've scanned for
possible virus problems, but nothing. Very odd, methinks.
