Deleted Items Folder

I have Office 2007. When I try to empty my deleted items folder it returns
an unknown error and tells me to restar Outlook, however when I do I receive
the same message and cannot empty my deleted items folder. Can anyone help?
 
Try scanning your PST file for errors. Close Outlook. Do a file/folder search
for scanpst.exe. When it's located, double-click it and follow the
instructions. It will ask you to browse to your PST file so you need to know
where it's located. Run the scan and allow it to repair errors if it finds
them. Then run it again. You may have to repeat a few times until no further
errors are found. Then open Outlook and try to empty your Deleted Items
folder.
 
I am having the same problem and have tried all of the solutions
listed...Still same problem. There has to be some common denominator for all
of these accounts having this problem! More ideas welcomed!
 
Thank you...but I am having trouble with the steps in the link. I am using
Vista & Outlook 2007. When I open the 'new' profile it only contains unread
messages in the inbox. None of my other folders are available.

I'm not quite sure about the step that reads: When you are done creating the
mail profile you might want to add a pst-file to like your original pst-file
or an archive file..."

Does this make sense?
 
It does make sense. Did you delete the old profile? I have found on occasion
that I have had to delete the old profile and then restart the PC before
creating a new profile.

can you delete the items if you select them, hold shift and delete?

No I tried that. I forgot to mention that once in a while I can empty
it...but then it goes back to the same error.
