deleted items folder empties daily, empty deleted box is uncheckd

My deleted items folder empties automatically daily (which is not what I
want) - my provider's server does a clean up of deleted items folders every
14 days and my outlook setting under tools/options/other has the "delete upon
exiting" box unchecked. How can I keep items in my deleted items folder?
 
are you using an exchange server account? they can be configured to clean up
daily on the server or you could have auto archive enabled and a 1 day
archive time.
