Deleted emails moved to Deleted Items folder - not strikethrough

I want to configure Outlook 2003 to move any deleted emails to the Deleted
Items folder. Currently, they still appear in my Inbox. They just show a
'strikethrough'. The only way I can get rid of them (without manually moving
them to the Deleted Items folder) is to perform a purge, which eliminates any
chance of a change of heart on my part.

You're accessing an IMAP account and that's the way IMAP in Outlook works.
You can't change it.

would it not be possible to create a rule that sends a copy of all incoming
messages straight to deleted items. i would think that would make most people
happy since imap can't do this.
