I just added a contact (company) with the same name but a different
address as one already in my contacts. To my shock, the original contact
was lost..apparently overridden by the new input. I searched "Help" for
a way to recover. The deleted contact was supposed to appear in a list
from Go > Folder List. I was supposed to be able to highlight it and
either drag it to Contacts or hit another combination of buttons to
restore. I could not find any list of deleted contacts. What did I do
wrong? SURELY I am able to save two contacts with the same name, no?

i believe if you look in your deleted folder in the personal folders that contact it there somewere

Andrew, I found an awful lot of deleted email, contacts, and done "to
do" items. But not the contact that was apparently overridden. I am very
confused. I know I have multiple listings for other companies. Don't
quite know how this happened. I did not affirmatively delete the first
contact.....it just disappeared when I saved the second with the same
company name.

Apparently it's lost in some black hole. The good news is I had the old
information from the previous contact management program which I'm
afraid to remove from my computer. I guess the other good news is I
learned how to restore a contact actually deleted.

Thanks for your help!
Judy

This simply doesn't happen when you create a new Contact. Do you have "check
for duplicate Contacts" enabled? If so, when a new Contact matches an old
one, Outlook will prompt you to see if you want to combine (overwrite) the
old information or save it as a new one.
Somehow, you inadvertently opened your old Contact when you thought you were
creating a new one. When in doubt, use the "Save and New"... command to
prevent this from happening.
