Helpppp I deleted an account on WIndows Xp. Now I found I
had some important files & documents in there I needed.
Are they forever gone? Is there way to retreive them?

Thank You

It depends on what OS version, what account it was, and how it was deleted.
If you are using XP Pro, encrypted the files and did not back up the keys,
they are gone. If you are using Home, that's not a consideration as the
encryption isn't included in Home.

Try logging in as Administrator and looking for the user account folders
under Documents and Settings. Take ownership of the folders you need.
Search in Help and Support for 'take ownership' and you'll see directions on
how to do this.

Hi Sherri -

This may be a bit late, but you can use the Deleted File Analysis
Utility on the Executive Software website to see if the deleted files
can be recovered. If the analysis utility comes up with positive
results, then our Undelete product can recover the files. If
possible, avoid doing anything on your computer that will cause writes
to happen on the drive in question -- otherwise the deleted files can
be overwritten.)

Here's a link to the Deleted File Analysis Utility:

http://www.undelete.com/downloads/menu.asp -- the Deleted FIle
Analysis Utility is about halfway down the page.

I hope this helps -
