I'm trying to delete my two daughters accounts, one of which appears
to be an
administrator account (oops). My account is also an administrator
account which I will leave as is.
Make sure you are logged in and that the accounts you want to delete are
logged out - IOW that Fast User Switching wasn't used. You might also
try deleting the accounts from Safe Mode. Do this by repeatedly tapping
the F8 key as the computer is starting up. This will get you to the
right menu. Navigate using your Up arrow key; the mouse will not work
here.
One possibility is that one of your daughters is actually using the
built-in Administrator account instead of a regular user account. You
can check by enabling hidden files (Folder Options>View) and going to:
My Computer>C:\[system drive]\Documents and Settings\Administrator and
looking at the My Documents folder. If you see your daughter's stuff in
there, that's what she was doing and you won't be able to delete the
account. If you see separate accounts for your daughters and yourself,
then delete the desired accounts from the User Accounts applet in
Control Panel. An example of what you would expect to see in that case
is:
Documents and Settings\Administrator
Documents and Settings\your-account
Documents and Settings\daughter-1
Documents and Settings\daughter-2
