Delete transaction logs after backup

We are running Veritas Backup Exec 9 on our backup server and Exchange 2003
Std. on another machine. The backup routine is backing up everything;
however, the log files are not getting flushed (deleted) after the backup.
So our drive filling up. We do have the flush committed logs option set.

Am I correct in believing that after the log files are backup they are
committed, or what makes them committed and how can I delete them?

Do you have the BE Exchange agent installed properly? Are you doing
brick/mailbox level backup only? That won't purge committed logs - you must
run an online backup of the Exchange stores themselves. If you have to run
brick-level backup, do it only in conjunction with a proper online backup.
Brick-level takes a lot of time and tape, is error prone (particularly
regarding calendars, during restore) and is useless for disaster recovery.

All this said: You've posted this in an Outlook newsgroup, but your question
is about Exchange and would be best posted in m.p.exchange.* - .admin gets a
lot of traffic.
