I have a ton of these $NtUninstallKnnnnnn$ directories in \WINNT.

Can I just delete them?

Or get rid of them in some other way?

Are they needed?

Needed only if you wish to uninstall that particular update.
Heirloom, old and have a bunch of them
myself

I normally wait a week or so after updates if no errors or problems occur I
delete them.

For everyone that is just deleting these files ... what are you doing about
all the pointers left over in the registry pointing to all these files?

Hopefully, you are cleaning them up.

Not sure about anyone else Larry but I generally keep my register very clean.
The registry is one of my favorite places to play.

So you've cleaned up the Uninstall key and the Installer keys? And made sure
that the Windows/Installer folder is in sync?

There is probably no way you would know this, but Atribune is one of the
premier warriors in the fight against spyware and an extremely talented
programmer. If anyone knows exactly what is in his registry, Atribune
does.

I didn't know that ... but I was addressing everyone/anyone in the original
post. When I post, I post for all in the thread.

this free tool will delete the uninstall folders and fix up the reg and
add/remove propgrams so that they won't show-up, but win-update will still
know you've applied the updates:

note it leaves the reg entries "dangling", which is the "right" thing to
do, but most reg cleaners don't like that, so you need to ignore those
reg-cleaner "errors" (as you do for most reg-cleaner errors! reg-
cleaners are really pretty useless w/o a very knowledgable user to filter
the results).

thanks doug...
