delete impossible in Outlook

I'm afraid I'll have to delete my Deleted Items folder in Outlook 2000.
When I try to empty the folder I get a "The messaging interface has returned
an unknown error. If the problem persists Restart Outlook" message. Is it
possible to delete the entire folder and replace it with an empty new one?
Will it create any problems?

My Outlook version: "Microsoft Outlook 2000 SR-1 (9.0.0.4527)
Internet Mail Only - Security Update"

Running scanpst.exe doesn't really help: I am still asked to run the Inbox
Repair Tool whenever I try to delete things. Is it possible to delete my
Outlook 2000, reinstall and then
from backup copy my previous inbox, sent items, etc folder by folder into
the fresh outlook.pst? Losing the Deleted Items folder this way wouldn't be
a worry to me.

Kind regards

Henrik

Hello Alex

Thank you for the answer. My problem is not quite the same as described in
this article. Are you saying that I still need the hotfix described there?

Thanks

I got a question though. Is there a reason why you didn't want to
install Office 2000 Service Pack 3 update?

Done it now - but I still cannot empty my deleted items folder.

Create a new PST (FIle>New>Outlook Data File) and make it your delivery
location. Stop and restart Outlook. Move or copy the contents of all
folders EXCEPT the Deleted Items folder to the new PST. Close the old PST.
After Outlook has been stopped/restarted the next time, you can delete the
old PST if you want.

What's all this business with "REPOST" in the subject line? I'm noticing it
in a few groups now.
