Why would you want to remove the software?
Are you that short of disk space?

Turn a gadget on or off for a Windows SideShow-compatible device
A gadget, or add-in program, runs on a Windows SideShow-compatible device
and updates the device with information from your computer. You can view
gadgets that are installed on your device or download additional gadgets for
your device in Windows SideShow in Control Panel.

After you install a gadget, you must turn on the gadget in Control Panel.

Note
a.. Some gadgets on the device may have been installed and turned on by
your device manufacturer and might not appear in Control Panel. To learn
more, check the information that came with your device or go to the
manufacturer's website.

To turn a gadget on or off
1.. Click to open Windows SideShow.

2.. For each device, select the check box next to the gadget that you want
to turn on.

- or -

For each device, clear the check box next to the gadget that you want to
turn off.

they reside under Program Files (x86) Windows Sidebar and then Gadgets.
be careful to make sure you know the proper names of the files for the gadget you want to get rid of.

No silly. I am not running out of disk space.
I installed a third party gadget that is not working as intended. I want to
uninstall the software. Not just check to stop it from running.
Thanks for your response Julian but that is not what I was asking. My
wording could have been better.

Hmmm I see the gadgets listed there but not the one I installed.
It was a third party gadget.

Does the usual Uninstall program function on the control panel show the gadget? Or
maybe there is an uninstaller in the gadget program file folder?

Hi Paula,

Right click the sidebar icon in the system tray, choose properties. Click
the button to view running gadgets. Select the one you want to remove and
click 'remove'.

Sorry, but I have often deleted stuff that was as far as I was concerned was
redundant
when I had no real need to do so and occasionally created problems for
myself.

Yes, but that just says it will remove the gadget from the sidebar but not
uninstall the software. The exact wording is " To stop a gadget from
running, you must remove it from the Sidebar. Removing a gadget won't
uninstall it from your computer".

Paula

Close the desired gadget first, then right click the sidebar and select "Add
Gadgets"....when the icons for all installed gadgets are displayed, right
click the one you want and select "uninstall"...
