Hi all

Do you know of any examples of the dropdown "delete" option (when you right
click on a file) creating copies of that file.
A newby asked me this the other day and I asked whether the files had arrows
indicating that he was creating shortcuts by miss-selecting the option. He
didn't recall seeing any arrows, have you heard anything like this, is it
possible for these commands to become corrupted?

regards

Hi
Thanks for your input. Let me explain further:
When you right click on a file or folder you get a drop down or pop up menu
with various options, one of them is "delete". My friend has explained to me
that he tried to use this method to delete files from his computer but
instead of deleting them it is creating copies.
The most likely reason is that he is clicking on the "create short cut"
option by mistake,( as they are next to each other) however he says he
doesn't think he is doing this and so I am enquiring as to whether there is
any chance this menu could be corrupted?
Of course there are many other ways to delete files but I am more interested
in whether this is possible.

Thanks again

I dont know what you mean by "dropdown delete option",
By right clicking, choosing delete while holding the shift key deletes the
file from the hard disk.

click delete + shift = Delete (permanently)
drag +shift = move to:
drag +Cntrl = create copy of
drag +Alt = create shortcut

I havent heard of it before but sure its possible. The context menu is more
easily corruptable. Try doing a www.microsoft.com search for drop down menu
or context handler for more information.

sorry
