I have an excel file which I share electronically with others. I need to delete one of the custom headers. I searched the archives and David McRitchie said that you cannot delete one of the choices to the menu. I was wondering if anyone else had found a way.

To clear a custom header you just go into the header dialog and backspace
over the left-header, center-header and right-header. Or am I missing
something?

That doesn't delete that particluar heading as an option from the menu.

For example, if you created a custom header called "Woddy Inc." that option would always show up, regardless of whether you chose it and then backspaced over it. It doesn't erase it.

It doesn't erase it.

It does for me. The only custom header in the drop down is the current one.
The rest are built-in. Don't be confused by headers that show the company
name or the user's name. Those are built-in with Excel just picking up the
name from the Tools, Options, General user name or from workbook
properties. You can't delete them but you can change the name they show by
changing the user name.

Thanks. You're on to it, but I still don't know how to change it. I went to the General tab under Tools/Options, but the user name is correct. However, the company name is wrong. I'm not sure how to change workbook properties but I'm betting that is where the problem is.

Jim, that did it. Thanks so much. This is my first experience using this forum and I will definitely use it in the future after this experience. Thanks a ton!!!!!!
