Delete Block

Whenever I highlight text for deletion in Word documents I am unable to delete the selected area. "Delete Block Yes/No" appears at the bottom of the screen. Selecting No doesn't help. How can I stop this happening
 
Tools | Options | General: Clear the check boxes for both items that refer
to WordPerfect.
