delete AIM

I downloaded Aol Instant Messanger on to my home computer about fifteen minutes ago. Instantly, the popups started. I tried to delete the AOL AIM program (located at C:\Programs\AIM) using the delete command on the shortcut menu. The delete could not be performed. The explanation given was "Access Denied"

I am the administrator as well as the user. I do not understand why I would be denied access. Can you help

Shut down and exit from the AIM program. Try to uninstall it again.

Do not try to delete installed program files. Uninstall AIM in add/remove
programs in Control Panel.
