They are the uninstall files for hotfixes you've installed. You can delete
any or all of them, if you're sure you'll never
want to delete the associated hotfix. Go to MVP Doug Knox's site, http://www.dougknox.com/, click on "Win
XP Utilities" on the left, then choose "Remove Hotfix Backups"
Personally, unless you need the disk space, I'd recommend leaving them
there, just in case. And if you need the space that badly, deleting them
would just be a stopgap measure anyway, and you need to buy a larger drive.
To add to Ken's post do not delete the $hf_mig$ folder. It's needed for
future updates. If you delete the uninstall folders manually then
afterwards go to Add/Remove programs and remove the entry for each one.
Click on the remove option. It will throw up a message that it can't
uninstall the update, and offer to remove it's entry. This is handled
automatically in Doug Knox' utility.
Space is not an issue, I have 800 GB free on 2 500MB drives. Just thought I
would do a little housecleaning. Thanks for the link to Doug's site!
