I am getting this message on a Windows 2000 File server. The system has been patched with all the recent security fixes and is running SP4. I have done alot of reading on this particular topic over the past few weeks and haven't really found anything pertaining specifically to this error, as the "Source" listed in the event viewer is "VSP", all of the other "Sources" listed in the articles I have read have been "Hardisk" ETC, ETC

Event Viewer reads as follows: (minus non important info

Source: VS
Event ID: 5

The description for Event ID (50) in Source )VSP) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer

DATA: (WORDS

0000: 00040000 00580001 00000000 8004003
0010: 00000000 00000000 00000000 0000000
0020: 00000000 00000000 c000000

I only seem to get the errors when I have active users on the network, accessing the server

I know this this has been covered but not this SPECIFIC error

Thanks for any assistance

I forgot to mention the text of the actual pop-up window
titled "Windows - Delayed Write failed" it reads as
follows:

"Windows was unable to save all the data for the file
\$Mft. the data has been lost. This error may be caused by
a failure of your computer hardware or network connection.
Please try to save this file elsewhere."

I already know what the \$Mft file is, its the Event
Viewer message below that bothers me with the "Source"
of "VSP".

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
RWJ

The $Mft file is the Master File Table, and any occurance of an error
involving this should be followed-up on with a run of Chkdsk to ensure
there are no errors on your disk
VSP may be referring to Veritas software, do you have any installed? If so,
update your software (especially vsp.sys, which operates at the file system
level), or try running with the Open File Agent uninstalled
