Delay in accessing network shares

I have four computers arranged in a peer-to-peer network
here at the house. Each one running WinXP Pro (SP1).
Three of them will communicate immediately with anothers
shared folders on any given drive or computer, but one
computer will hang for around 45 seconds to a minute
before making the connection to any other computer. It is
not a show-stopper, but pretty annoying. I have checked
registry entries in all four and gone through the GP
Editor in each of the four. All appear to be identical.

Any thoughts?

If the machines are identical, it could easily be a
hardware problem, try a different network card, or even a
different Cat5 cable.

I've swapped cards all over the place. I have replaced
every cable at least once. It appears to be in the
operating system somewhere, but I sure can't figure it
out. If I get pushy and keep clicking the folder
referenced in the 'current' computer, I will get "Not
Responding" until it finally makes the connection and
give me a list of folders on the 'other' computer. After
that, I can move around at will without delay - it's just
that first contact that is delayed.
