deframent doesn't work.

I am having problem in defragmenting my c drive.
I saw some said about the xp service pack 2 blocking
system to defragment. I uninstall the sp2 but am not
able to defragment my drive. I am using xp professional.

Will be helpful if you give the error message when you tried to do defragment..

You can also try after you turn off the system restore..

you have to restart the computer after you turn off the computer..
Note : you will be loosing all the system restore points if you turn off..

dont forget to turn it on back once you done with that..

Go to computer management (right click on My Computer then Manage) then go to
Disk Management. Check the drive that you're trying to defrag, what did it
say?

Also, have you tried repairing this drive (right click on
drive/properties/tools/error checking).

Do you have enough free space needed for the defragmenter to move the
non contiguous chunks around? If not, run the disk clean uo utility to
free uo space. After that run chkdsk and then defrag.
Personally i would suggest you download This tool which is much faster,
the free version although doesnt have advanced features of the paid
one.
