I went to defragment my C drive and a notrice came up
saying the check disk utility was scheduled to run. I
clicked OK and nothing else happened. How do i run the
check diosk utility so that I can then defragment? I have
done searched within Help and have not been able to
figure it out. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Skip

It'll run on next boot-up.

Go to start enter Chkdsk \f C:
C being disk to be defrsgged
I have same problem as you but chkdsk reports other
programme has control of disk best of luck

It doesn't - there's an unspecified error that comes up.
Any ideas? Thanks for your time here as I am lost.

Ok, I tried this and got the following;
"The type of the file system is NTFS. Cannot lock current
drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (y/n)"
++++++++++++++++

When the system boots up it starts the chkdsk but then is
stopped because of an unspecified error. If I say yes to
the above question, it just does a second scan on the
next boot up and I still get the error notice about an
unspecified error (just get it twice).

Any ideas/suggestions? I am clueless.

Thanks in advance,
