Hi,

I'm running XP Pro and have forgotten the DOS command(s) for DEFRAG. Also,
how do I run it/them from the command line. Start--->Run--->cmd--->???????

Might there be a freeware app or two out there which does as good a job as
XP's own per above?

Thank you for any and all help : )

"Forgotten"?

Search using Google!
http://www.google.com/
(How-to: http://www.google.com/intl/en/help/basics.html )

Example...

A search for:

"command line" defrag "Windows XP"

came back with many hits - one of which was:

Description of the New Command Line Defrag.exe
Included with Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283080

As far as a program that does better. That's a matter
of opinion and a matter of how much you need to use it.

For most users - running the 'junior version' of
Executive Software's Diskeeper once or twice
every few months is more than enough.
(That's what is included with Windows XP.)
