defrag

I am trying to defrag my PC. A defragmenter called
Diskeeper comes up. It is defragmenting 1% of my files
each time I run it. I estimate at that rate I will have
to run it 700 times to defrag the fragmented files. Does
anyone have any suggestions on what I should do to make
this work better? Or can someone suggest where I can
download a defragmenter that actually works?

Windows' own defragmenter works very well and is perfectly adequate.

Diskeeper is a third-party application that you, or someone else with
administrator permissions, installed on your computer. For questions on

Well, since Windows Xp has a 'brief' version of the original Diskeeper and
doesn't call it that, i hafta wonder exactly what it is you ARE running and
where it came from, because the full version of this app works very well,
usually..(?)....

Diskkeeper and XP defrag are designed to be run without affecting anything else on the computer. Other defraggers are designed for other purposes (100% defragging but you don't need 100%).
