After installing a raid 0 (stripping,) the need to defrag
the drive arrose. The system ran fine for 3 weeks after I
set the raid array. As soon as I defraged I started
getting random system crashes and my Scan disk comes on
whenever I start the system, reporting errors. Has anyone
ever experienced this, should I be useing a third party
defrager for a raid array. Thanks

Hi Dave,

I read somewhere that RAID configurations create an even greater need for defragging & that the built-in defragger doesn't cope so well.

It was recommended to use a more heavy-duty defragger, such as "Diskeeper," which I have been using quite happily on my RAID 0 machine. (I believe that the built-in defragger is a cut-down version of "Diskeeper".)

You can check it out here, but note the different versions/compatibility:-

Hope this helps!
