Defeating windows genuine check?

No. Once the WGA file is installed, it becomes a permanent
file in the operating system. Do not attempt to uninstall it
via third-party hacks. Many of those hacks contain spyware
that will corrupt and/or compromise the security of your system.

Not pertinent to the post - but a little story of interest. A friend was
subjected to notice was that his XP was invalid (truthfully it was) -
following advice to take Microsoft's offer to "legitimize" his XP- which he
did - the result was that he received via e-mail a key to "validate" the
bogus XP installation AND he received a full version CD of XO pro with an
additional key - his cost - $159. Moral of the story - he begins with one
bogus XP and ends up with two legal copies!!

What does this message mean when XP finishes booting from ZoneAlarm Pro:
"Description Windows Genuine Advantage Notification was trying to read and
modify physical memory
Rating High
Date / Time 2006/10/27 19:11:26-5:00 GMT
Type Memory Access
Subtype Map Physical Memory
Data
Program C:\WINDOWS\system32\WgaTray.exe"

I've both allowed and disallowed many times. No apparent difference in how
XP operates.

You must not have the latest version of WGA/N. The new one doesn't do
that but I don't think it's available any more as MS has quietly removed
it due to all the flack they got.

Considering that the WGA/N spyware is from Microsoft, why not?

Even Microsoft has a way to uninstall it, so you were saying?

Would you like me to forward your post?

I don't think you understood the question being asked. This is not a spyware
question.
Even Microsoft has a way to uninstall it, so you were saying?
uninstalling the notification is NOT getting around the validation. you
still MUST be validated to recieve updates from the MS site as well as
upgrade to certian features, your point is what?
Would you like me to forward your post?

Alias

If that makes you happy, go for it!

I understood it perfectly. Again, why not?
uninstalling the notification is NOT getting around the validation. you
still MUST be validated to recieve updates from the MS site as well as
upgrade to certian features, your point is what?

Oh, that one. There's so many I lose track. Well getting around that one
is easy; it's call Auto Update. Now, you'll lose IE7, Defenseless and
other useless programs but so what?
If that makes you happy, go for it!

I was kidding. No sense of humor?

Well, am not upset. Windows update is set to auto download, notify. Still
waiting for that.

Question was directed at Carey. Still waiting answer... Not that I expect
something intelligent.

Not anymore than MVPs responding how to defeat copy protection of commercial
DVDs. The information is widely available, just don't understand why a
person would post such questions on this newsgroup.
