Hi. I want to modify the style of new workbooks. To this end, I have
modified the "workbook.xltx" file under:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\XLSTART

Now when I open Excel, the blank workbook correctly looks like my modifed
default... however, my modified default is not used in the following
scenarios:
1) I right click on my desktop and create a new Excel workbook.
2) Within Excel, I select "New" and "Blank workbook".

Any idea if I can set the deafult workbook for these scenarios?

Thanks,
Jim

Not using 2007 but in 2003................

1. C:\Windows\SHELLNEW\Excel9.xls is the right-click New>Excel Worksheet.

Make your changes to that workbook. Leave the one in XLSTART as is.

2. New...Blank Workbook will get you the default Excel workbook.

No way around that other than don't use the New...(note the Ellipsis)

Use New(no ellipsis) or CTRL + n or the New Icon to get your XLSTART workbook.

Thanks for the feedback.

Curious because you are running 2007 version..........the SHELLNEW folder
actually had an Excel9.xls file or what was the actual name and extension?
