Default user at Windows log on

When I start the computer, windows displays the log on
box, with the default user Guest shown, waiting for
password response. If Guest is disabled, I get the "your
account is disabled" error message first, then the lon on
box, still showing Guest. I thought it was supposed to
identify the last user logged on, and use that name, but
it does not seem to do this.

I would recommend not displaying the last user logon. There are several ways
to achieve this. It can be defined on individual / local systems, or for the
domain. Locally, Tweakui is a clean and easy tool for setting this and other
configurations, or you can set it in the local policy on each machine. See
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310125. For each
computer in the domain, in the Domain Security Policy console, Windows
Settings, Security Settings, Local Policies, Security Options, set "Do not
display last user name in logon screen" to Enabled.
