I am trying to play music from a cd during my powerpoint 2003 presentation. The music will not play in powerpoint when I click the music icon on my slide, but it plays fine if I open windows media player and play it from that program. I have several media players installed on my pc, and I'm wondering if the issue could be my default media player. How do I get powerpoint 2003 to use windows media player as default?

By default, PowerPoint uses the MCI player. PowerPoint 2003, however is the
first version to use both the MCI and Windows Media Player. You'll find more
info here:

You can also rip the music off the CD to a WAV file - this will provide more
control:

How did you set the sound to play -- that is, did you use Insert/Sound/From File or did you use Insert/CD Track or what?

Is it a sound file on a CD-ROM (such as a WAV or MP3), or is it a CD-audio (like you'd put in your car stereo)?
