Thanks for your help.

My config
Win xp sp2 with IE7

How can I set IE 7 default to use MSword to open a text file ((.txt)?
I already set the file association in "Folder option-File Type" setting but
doesn't work.

Thanks again

Patrick

Your question doesn't seem to make sense. IE7 by default opens *.htm files.
These, however, are text files and you can open and edit them with notepad.
Do you want to use Word as your editor for *.htm files?
If not, where do you get these *.txt files from in IE7?
HTH,
ern.

Thanks for you reply.

we have some web page that some some link are link to a text file.
we are using IE7 to browse thsee web page, when we click the link (text file
link), the content of the text file will be displayed in IE 7. We would like
IE 7 will prompt us that we can choose open it in WORD or just save it.

This is works in Windows xp sp1 and IE6

Thanks for your help

That is clearer, thanks.

To get the prompt you need to check the box in the Folder Options dialogue:
Control Panel > Folder Options/File types tab > Select TXT and click
Advanced button > check the "Confirm Open after Download" box and OK.

This may get the files to open in a separate (Notepad) window, you will/may
have to change the program associated with TXT files to Word using the
Change button in the same dialogue but this will apply to all TXT files on
your system.

I hope this is what you want,
ern.
