Dear all

I did post this a couple of days ago and have tried the
suggestions received but still can't get it to work.

All I want to do is change the default workbook that
Excel uses. I want to format it in a particular way and
save the changes, so when I click onto the New icon, it
uses my new formats.

I know how to create new general templates for use but
cannot get it to change the default template.

Has anybody got any more ideas? I'm working with Excel
2000.

Thanks

Louise

Try saving the formatted workbook
as Book.xlt in XLSTART folder

Click File > Save As:

Select under "Save as type:" : Template

Put as "File name:" : Book

Navigate to (for "Save in:"):
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\XLStart

Click Save

Assuming you have formatted as you wish and Save As book.xlt in your XLStart
directory, the next thing to consider is whether you have more than one
XLStart directory. Perform a Search or Find of your HD for XLStart and see
what turns up. Believe it or not, that template is the basis for all new
workbooks. The same workbook, saved as sheet.xlt in XLStart will be the
basis for worksheets added to an existing workbook.
