Peter

I am using both Outlook 2000 and Outlook Express 6 under Windows 98SE.

Most of my mailing is done with Outlook 2000, my default mail client.
I only use Outlook Express to send and receive mail on a Hotmail
account which I still use occasionally.

My problem is that when I hit a shortcut such as
mailto:[email protected] my system automatically creates a new
message in Outlook Express addressed from my Hotmail email address.

In the Control Panel -> Internet Options applet MS Outlook is set as
the default mail client, NOT Outlook Express.

Any help appreciated.

Peter

If a mailto: link fails to invoke Outlook, you may need to set Outlook as
your default email program, try the following:

In Windows Explorer click Folder Options (Windows 98 and NT 4.0) on the View
menu.
Click the File Types tab. Under Registered File Types, click to select
URL:MailToProtocol, and then click Edit.
In the Actions list, click Open, and then click Edit.
Press DELETE to delete the text in the "Application used to perform action"
box, and type the following text as a single line (including the quotation
marks) in the box:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OUTLOOK.EXE" -c IPM.Note /m "%1"
To save the changes, click OK, and then click Close twice to return to My
Computer.
