Is there a way to change the default setting of the "insert picture" menu
form form the default icon format to the details format? If so, how?

Thanks!

No.

And by that I mean, no. It is one of the difficulties of the insert
pictures dialog. If you have a few hundred thousand pictures in your My
Pictures folder, the insert process can take forever. One option is to sort
all your pictures into sub folders. This will give you a chance to change
the view-type and drill down to the picture you want.

So..., two things you should do.

One, read this.

and two, use this to tell MS why it isn't a good thing.
**Contact Microsoft: Use MSWish to request features, report problems, etc.

Not that I know of, but you might want to have a look here:

The Insert Picture tool is part of the inexpensive StarterSet Plus upgrade.

Steve...

Thanks for the reply. Looks good...will DL the demo and try it. At $20,
could be worth it to upgrade just for the insert tool.

Bill...Thanks for the reply. I rarely use My Pictures - no more than My
Documents, which I never use. My work is in digital imaging science - image
processing and analysis, so I deal in lots of pictures. I use PPT to
document everything I do since other Office tools take to much time and
effort do quick and simple page layout. Too bad everythinghas to be
defaulted with no hope of change to the Microsoft way!

It's interesting to me that some things are geared to the casual home user
that should be flexible enough for the professional and some are geared to
the profesional that should be geared to the casual home user!

Oh well - will try the suggested tool pack.

Thanks!
