When we try to save a file in Excel 2002, shouldn't the
file location come up as set in Tools, Options, General,
default file location?

We're finding when you "save as" from an email attachment
for example, Excel will default to My Documents or
somewhere else even though I have it set to a different
location.

Thank you, please advise,

john

I think this behavior changed with xl2k.

Excel knows where an existing workbook was opened from. If you do a
file|saveAs, it figures that you probably want to save it in that same location.

For attachments, xl is usually incorrect. I don't want to save anything in my
temp or temporary internet files folders, either. But for most things, I like
this behavior better.

When you save as from Email program -- the default location is based on the
settings for the Email program not Excel.
