Default E-Mail Client Problem

For years I have been using Outlook Express as my default
e-mail client with no problems. After upgrading to
Windows XP Home Edition, and loading Microsoft Office for
Small Business XP, something went wrong with Outlook
Express being identified as the default E-Mail Client.
What happens now is that whenever I click on an e-mail
link in Internet Explorer (or in any program for that
matter) my computer goes into a loop, opening browser
windows continuously with an error message saying that
webpage cannot be found.

I used the menu options in Outlook Express to "reestablish
it as my default E-mail Client, and it now indicates that
it is. However I still get the endless looping of new
browser windows, when in fact I should be getting Outlook
Express opened with a new message window with the e-mail
address already inserted. The looping stops when all of
RAM is used.

Can anyone help me with this problem? Please!

David's advice should bring back the Outlook Express entry there. Then,
choose Outlook Express and set it as default.

For the HTML editor issue, open Registry Editor and navigate to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.htm\OpenWithList

Create a sub-key named WINWORD.EXE
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.htm\OpenWithList\WINWORD.EXE]

Assuming that the App Paths, Application entry for WINWORD.EXE is set
correctly.

Ramesh,

After posting my last note I opened the Internet Explorer
TOOLS>OPTIONS>PROGRAMS window. There was no entry in the E-mail program
box,
and the only option on the drop down menu is Microsoft Outlook. I clicked
on
that to set it that way. Then I went to Outlook Express and the "Make
Default" section was no longer grayed. I clicked on the Make Default
button,
then went back to Internet Explorer. The entry for the e-mail program was
once again blank with the only option on the drop down menu being Microsoft
Outlook. Same is true for the HTLM editor program options. MS Word is not
included and I would prefer using that program for HTML editing. How does
one get these other options to appear on the drop down lists in Internet
Explorer, and why aren't these others listed?
