How do I reset my default download directory. For quite a while, IE6
(within WinXP) was downloading by default to my "Download" directory. Then
suddenly it started downloading to my desktop. During each new session,
when I do downloads, my system selects the desktop as the default download
directory, and I have to manually select my "Download" directory for the
first download. Thereafter the system remembers that directory. But after
I shut down my machine, the system forgets that directory and reverts to the
desktop as the default download directory. How do I switch back to my
"Download" directory?

You can specify this in the registry. Run regedit, navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer, double click
"Download Directory" (on the right side), and type in whatever you want.
