Hi - if you install another browser (e.g., Firefox) it should give you the
option to make it the
default.

Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Set Program Access and Defaults |
Custom + Down Arrow | Choose a default Web browser. Select the radio button
for the browser you want to be the default.

It may not be necessary to download anything if you don't want to.

If Firefox is the other browser you want to make your default browser,
open Firefox, choose Tools, Options, Advanced.

Click the Check Now button and if FF is not your default browser,
respond appropriately. Click Check Now again to be sure it worked.

I have Firefox and IE and each has an option inside itself to check.
Firefox is in the Tools->Options->advanced, down at the bottom there is
a check now button. It will check to see if FF is the default and ask
you if you want to make it such. And you can set it to check
every reload just in case something changes it back.
I'd assume other browsers allow you to do a similar check.
