Hi everybody,

In the past I have coded the maps and files of "My Documents" to hide the
content for other persons. Recently i have re-installed Windows XP
Professional because it was functioning badly. It proves that the early
coded files are not accessible. I am missing the key to decoding the files
again.

Because the files are important to me, i want to make them usable again.

Please, can somebody help me with this?

HOW TO: Remove File Encryption in Windows XP

Without a backup of the original Encryption Certificate Key, encrypted files
are unrecoverable as they will stay encrypted forever. There is no recovery
method since the encryption algorithm is now completely different with a
reinstall
of Windows XP.

By reinstalling your OS, you are no longer the same person who encrypted the
files, so you cannot access them. Just having the same username is no good.
See this article. It may be of help.

p.s. I assumed that you meant encrypted when you said "coded."

If the files were truely important to you. Prehaps you should made sure
you completely understand how encryption works. Sorry, But I have no
sympathy for your plight.
