We are (belatedly) upgrading our user base to IE6
One of the items which came up in testing was that we were unable to unset
the Advanced option "Install on Demand (Other)"
When visiting www.abc.com, users are presented a dialog box asking them
about installing WiMP.
We prefer that our users not see dialog boxes such as this. A little
examination shows that if I check the "Never install this component" box I
get a registry key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Active Setup\Declined Install On
Demand IEv5]
"{6BF52A52-394A-11D3-B153-00C04F79FAA6}"=""
I can find no reference (google , MS or usenet) to this key (or this GUID)
I am assuming that what this key says is 'Dont install the version of WiMP
with this GUID"
My questions are:
Is this the only GUID I need to worry about?
Is there some other way (preferably through Group Policy) I could deselect
"Install on Demand (Other)"?
